The mountainous land of Musakhel may have potential for mineral resources. There are ample opportunities for coal, oil and gas exploration and a few efforts have been made, but the non-co-operative attitude of the local population and lack of commitment on the government’s part have obstructed the exploitation of mineral resources in the district so far (see also paragraph 5.5.1). It should be mentioned however that the Geological Survey of Pakistan and the Inspectorate of Mines have not indicated any minerals in Musakhel district.
