The soils of Jaffarabad contain silt, clay, silt loam, clay loam, and sandy loam. On the basis of the soil reconnaissance, soil in the command area of both sub-divisions of Jhatpat and Usta Mohammed can be classified as silty and loamy soil. The majority of the land, however, is sandy and clay loam. There is more loamy soil in dense agricultural areas. According to Fazle Karim Khan's classification of soils in Balochistan, the district comes under the category of the "soils of pediment plains".
