Energy Jhall Magsi

Endeavours to provide electricity in Jhall Magsi started in 1990. In 1992-93 only three villages were electrified. In the next three years, 1993 to 1996, thirteen more villages were electrified, in total 16 villages (out of 86) have electricity. (Electricity is mostly used for the lighting of the houses, but not for heating. Different sources of energy are used for heating, of which the most important is dung-cake from different animals. Another source is wood. Spicegera (Kandi) is considered to be the best fire wood. In winter-time, nomads coming from cold hilly areas cut this wood from the forest and bring it to towns and villages on bullock carts, camels and donkeys.
