Forestry Jhall Magsi
According to the report of the Irrigation Department, Government of Balochistan, Quetta, 40,960 hectares of the area are under forest, which is one percent of the total district area. According to the Agricultural Statistics 1994-1995 only 20,988 hectares of forest exists in the districts Bolan and Jhall Magsi together.
The forest in the district Jhall Magsi falls into the category of wild forest. The principal trees occurring in the district are Precipice Spicigra (Kandi), Capparis Aphylla (Kirar), Salvadora Olevides (Khabbar), Sisyphus Ju Ju Ba (Bari) and Calotropis Gi Gantea (Ak). Date trees are also found in Kotra, Pir Chattal, Sarghani and Gandawah. Near Ghajan, Gahela is the largest wild forest of the district. The District Forest Officer (D.F.O) of Jhall Magsi district has his office at Sibi. No information is available regarding the data of cutting, marketing and processing of the forest. However, notables of the district showed concern about the cutting of the forest, especially fire wood. No information is available on wildlife and bee keeping.
