Labour Force Jhall Magsi
According to a recent labour survey, the private sector in Jhall Magsi employs 186 men and 34 children, a total of 220 labourers. However, the same report notes that these data do not include the public sector, the agricultural sector and the educational sector. Yet, according to rough estimates over 90 percent of the labour force is active in agriculture. Female participation in agriculture is large. Children, especially those over the age of ten, assist their parents in agriculture related activities. Women are commonly engaged in embroidery and the making of capes (Topi). Female embroidery is limited to dresses for males and females and Balochi waist-coats. Socio-cultural norms do not allow women to work independently and outside their houses.
