As far as the activities of NGOs in the district are concerned, they are almost non-existent. On government level there is only UNICEF providing flush latrines and hand pumps for sanitation and clean drinking water. This scheme is on a self-help basis. UNICEF provides the required material through local government, while the costs of construction are borne by the users. There is only one co-operative society in the district, which has twenty members.

Itahd-e-Nouw Jawanan tehsil Gandawah is a locally based social welfare organisation. It is an organisation of young educated people, which was started by young students from the area a few years ago. Now it has branches in almost every big village in the tehsil. Their activities are limited to the indication of different social problems through newspapers, corner meetings and meetings with concerned officials. They receive no financial help from any side. They do not have any experience with running an NGO and are not registered. However, they deserve the guidance and financial support of some important agency.

Another notable welfare association is Magsi Welfare Association. The basic purpose of this organisation is to improve the welfare of Magsi tribe.
