Political Parties Jhall Magsi
The political consciousness in district Jhall Magsi is at its lowest ebb. It is due to a variety of reasons including tribal centralism, low literacy ratio and non-availability of road links. Still, every party, like the Peoples Party, Muslim League, JWP, JUIF, BNM and BNP is organised on district level. However, their organisation to a large extent is on paper only, or they show their existence by means of statements in the newspapers. At the time of election all these parties nominate candidates for MPA or MNA seats, but ultimately withdraw their candidates. Only Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind and Nawab Zulfqar Ali Khan Magsi are towering political personalities in the district. Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind is a member of the JWP and has won the districts national seat continuously from 1990 onwards. Similarly, Nawab Zulfqar Ali Khan Magsi has won the seat in the Provincial Assembly continuously since 1988 elections.
Women play hardly any role in politics. Political parties do not have womens wings. Still, in 1977 a woman, Mrs. Mafri, was elected senator and she has played an important role in womens development at provincial level.
