The district is directly under the control of the provincial government through the Divisional Administration of the Commissioner of Kalat. The federal government has no major concern with the local issues directly. However, the federal departments such as Postal Services, Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation, WAPDA, Election office, Pakistan Television Corporation (booster), Agricultural Development Bank, and the Registration Department are serving in the district. The Departments functioning under the provincial government include the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner, Tehsildar, Superintendent Police, Deputy Superintendent Police, District Treasury, Departments of Agriculture, Food, Livestock, Local Government, Education, Forestry, Public Health and Engineering, Building and Roads, Directorate of Health, Kalat Scouts, Levies, etc. The Deputy Commissioner is the administrative head of the district. He controls and co-ordinates the activities of all federal and provincial government Departments. The structure of administration can be observed from the following diagram.
