Non Government Organisations Kalat

There are 14 NGOs in the district registered with the Social Welfare Department. Their main objectives are to solve problems on self help basis at grassroots level and to promote socio-cultural activities in the district. It is unfortunate that only 7 NGOs are actually functioning.

In addition to NGOs, many Community Based Organisations (CBOs) are functioning in the district. The Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) and the Society for Community Support (SCS) have also launched many development projects in the district. BRSP is involved in enabling women to generate their own income. SCS promotes female education by establishing girls’ schools on self-help basis.

The Government of Balochistan (Directorate of Primary Education, Education Department) and UNICEF, through the methodology of SCS, are making efforts to reduce the gender gap in primary education, following interventions identified by parents and key informal in the communities.
