Federal Administration Loralai

The total district falls under the Provincial administration where the Chief Executive is the Chief Minister of the Province. The Home Minister and his Department are responsible for the overall law and order situation. The division, consisting of many districts, is headed by a Commissioner, whereas the district administration is headed by a Deputy Commissioner. He is assisted by an Assistant Commissioner at the Sub-Division level, by Tehsildar at Tehsil level and by Naib-Tehsildar at the Sub-tehsil level. All nation building departments work in co-operation/liaison with the Deputy Commissioner. The Deputy Commissioner is an Ex-officio member of all the important committees and forums in the district. In most cases his function is to supervise the progress of all development activities carried out by the line departments in the district. Previously development schemes were initiated at the district and division level through the Divisional Co-ordination Committee, however this is no longer the case. One of the reasons is that a part of the funds are now being allocated to MPA’s.

Women issues as such are not allocated any fund nor is there any separate programme for women. However, they have certain allocated seats in local bodies. Most of the development activities such as education, health, water supply, road and buildings cannot be segregated based on gender.

In the past MPA’s, MNA’s, Senators used to channel their discretionary funds to Deputy Commissioners for implementation of their schemes.

The Federal Government’s role is restricted at the divisional/district level to subjects such as election, intelligence and fighting crimes like smuggling and drug trafficking.
