Fisheries Loralai
Introduction
Although the district is practically devoid of any fishery potential, there are some meagre possibilities as small amounts of fish are found in the river beds. The major source of fish species like Mahasir and Raho is the Anambar River. The Fisheries Department constructed two ponds at "Yetabad" near a sheep farm. The result was not very successful51. The Fisheries Department has only one office in Loralai town, comprising an Assistant Director Fisheries, a Fisheries Officer, an Inspector Fisheries and various support staff.
Conclusion and major Development Issues
The scope of inland fisheries is very limited in the district, due to shortage of water. There are few places, specially river beds where fish are found, these seasonal rivers are filled with water of flash floods. These flash floods could be trapped and steered to fulfil not only the irrigation requirements but also to be used for the development of fisheries.
