Mostly men are involved in agriculture and the livestock sector. The mining and industrial sectors are negligible except for coal. The labour force engaged in the mining sector mostly consists of migrants from Swat. Very few post are held by the local people. Most of the workers like masons, barbers, carpenters, tailors, welders etc; are migrants from other provinces (specially Punjab), and come usually during the summer in search of jobs.
The female labour force is mostly involved in household activities like cooking, washing, fetching water and wood etc; and very small numbers in agriculture. Women are also involved in animal and poultry care inside the house. Social and cultural bindings are the main impediments to womens full participation in economic activities. Lack of education facilities / opportunities further intensifies their inactive role in the society.
