The main mineral found in the district is coal. The production of coal in 1985-86 was 248,322 tonnes, which increased to 291,694 tonnes in 1991. The increase from 1991-1992 to 1994-95 was very meagre, which was 292,198 tonnes²⁴.

The other minerals found are calcite, marble and gypsum. Their economic potential is very limited. The exact potential available in the district is not known due to the un-surveyed and un-explored minerals.
